Who is John Brennan?Twitter: @brenndog
Name: John Brennan
Fights out of: Lancaster, PA. Hometown is Williamstown, PA
Weight Class: 145
Gym(s): Gracie 717 in Lancaster. Cross train with the guys up at XFC in St. Clair, and every once in a while I’ll make the trip down to MVJ in Delaware for some open sparring on Fridays.
Head Coach/Coaches: Damione Puopolo is my head coach and my BJJ instructor. Zak Kelly is my striking/kickboxing coach. Joe Gudinas is the head coach at XFC, which is where I trained before I moved to Lancaster. Greg Pritchett also helps me out when I go down to MVJ for open sparring.
Strength & Conditioning: My good friend and former teammate at XFC, Colin Fedoriska, and I work together to develop a 6 week S&C plan for each fight. It usually consist of a 3 day split of strength training on M-W-F along with
conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday. I do a lot of old school power lifts on my strength days, and on the conditioning days I log a lot of miles on my bike along with some sprints mixed in.
Nutrition: Colin and I have my nutrition pretty dialed in at this point. We both do a lot of research in the field and are constantly bouncing ideas off each other. I prep my meals each morning before work and eat roughly every 3 hours. Fruits,
vegetables and lean meats make up the bulk of my diet. I have a pretty clean diet whether I am in camp or out of camp, so there’s not much change when I take a fight. My fiancé refers to most of my diet as bird food, but I like it, and I always have great energy levels for two-a-days in camp.
Next Fight: WCC 10 against Justin Mazzella.
Your Strengths: I really like to push the pace and be unpredictable.
Favorite Music to Work Out to: I listen to everything. There are certain situations where I’ll listen to certain genres. I’ll listen to country on long bike rides through the back roads in Lancaster. When I’m lifting heavy I like I’ve been on this groove rock kick lately and am a big fan of the band Crobot. I went to high school with their lead singer, and they’re making waves in the rock scene. I’ll be walking out to their single “Nowhere to Hide” when I fight next weekend.
